Books & Research can help you manage your project from beginning to end. From delivering detailed project plans and overseeing execution of projects to providing post project analysis -- we are with you every step of the way. In fact, many times, we can even often free project analysis, audit, and base recommendations. Additionally, rather then signing numerous contracts and drafting multiple SOWs, Books & Research can be your main point of contact and contractor -- managing second and third party vendors.
Our approach to project management focuses on using a formalized and structured method of managing change by focusing on producing defined outputs by a certain time and budget, so that planned goals are reached. To do this, Books & Research utilizes proven experience and methodologies to deliver solutions that meet the specific needs of our clients. The skills of our project leaders and team members are broad and deep, with expertise in virtually every aspect of library services, cataloging, technology and engineering solutions. Examples of our in-house resources partner services are:

Books & Research can deliver project management skills to your organization quickly and efficiently. We can provide your organization with project leaders or project teams for virtually any technology engineering project. Our considerable experience in delivering complex solutions for library clients has taught us that success requires skills both in working with clients as business partners, and in providing the leadership to manage complex consulting engagements.
Projects usually begin with a pre-liminary intake meeting to gather requirements and details, which culminates with a detailed project plan. The requirement of any project plan is to identify and specifically document cost, timeline, and milestones. However, in the real world we understand that technology, industry, and everything else changes -- often times a plan that was penned 6 or 9 months ago is no longer tenable because of a major shift. As such our philosophy for managing projects consists of two major components: communication and flexability. Establishing clear lines of communication is perhaps one of the most fundamental and important requirements for succesfully completing a project. As such, Books & Research will early on establish a team specific to your project and set standing meetings and constant work updates, removing the all-to-often secrecy of projects. Furthermore, rather then using an approach of "build this product, and tell us when it is done," Books & Research believes in small and constant deliverables and waypoints. This ensures that the project team, consisting of Books & Research and appropriate customer members, will keep the project on track and be flexible enough to adapt the goals to meet external and often unforseen changes.
We are happy to provide specific details of our services and a portfolio of past projects, upon request.
